The American Magazine 4 (1940-42)

Teague continued to illustrate about 6 stories per year for The American from 1940 through January 1943.  After that date, he essentially stopped illustrating for The American.  In his final years working for the magazine, Teague continued his pursuit of realism in illustration.  A couple of the illustrations presented below straddle the line between illustration and fine art – a straddle Teague found comfortable and goal-worthy.  A representative sample of Teague’s work for The American during 1940-42 is presented below.  Story text has been omitted for a cleaner presentation.
