If you love horses, fights and gunplay, Rustler’s Range is the serial for you. In 1949, The Post paired Teague with Monte Barrett on this 7-part serial. In Rustler’s Range, protagonist Grady Scott resigns from the Texas Rangers and returns to his hometown of Apache to avenge the murder of his foster father. Pitted against him are his former colleagues in the Texas Rangers, and Sheriff Rowden and his gang of rustlers. Scott methodically metes out his brand of justice, one man at a time. Teague moved with is family to Carmel in 1949, but these illustrations were created in Encino prior to the move, and took advantage of Teague’s established network of actors. Rustler’s Range is presented below essentially in its entirety, along with some photos Teague took and used to help create the illustrations. Story text is omitted for a cleaner presentation.
