Trail Town (Collier's, 1941)

In 1941, Teague was paired with Ernest Haycox on yet another western, the 10-installment Trail Town.  Trail Town is the story of Dan Mitchell, marshal of River Bend, meting out his brand of justice in an outpost of civilization at the end of the cattle trail.  Unfortunately for Mitchell, his main electoral backers in town think he needs a more compromising view of justice.  Trail Town was the basis for the 1946 film Abilene Town, which featured a young Lloyd Bridges.  In Trail Town, Teague is in full command as a mature illustrator, delivering masterful color and black-and-white scenes and fabulous vignettes.  Trail Town is presented in its entirety below.  Story text has been omitted for a cleaner presentation.
